HOUSTON—A suspected drive-by shooter who led authorities on a brief chase was arrested early Thursday after being tracked down by K-9 units, according to Harris County Sheriff’s deputies.
Deputies said the suspect committed a drive-by shooting around 12:30 a.m. They would not release any specific details surrounding the shooting, but said the suspect was spotted near the scene on Antoine and Desert Rose shortly after.
The suspect led deputies on a 10-minute chase before bailing out near Antoine and Fallbrook.
Deputies set up a perimeter and brought three K-9 units to the scene, and the suspect was located after about an hour. One of the dogs bit the suspect when he was found.
The suspect was treated on the scene, then taken into custody.
While he was hiding, the suspect apparently called his girlfriend to come and pick him up.
When she arrived to the scene and saw that he was in custody, she asked if he was “OK,” deputies said. They told her he was and allowed her to leave.
