HOUSTON—A Houston mother and father not only drove their 13-year-old daughter to have a fight, but jumped in to help out when the other girl was winning, according to Harris County Precinct 6 deputy constables.
Charles Fields and Nicole Curtis, both 36 years old, were charged with felony injury to a child.
Deputies said on December 8, Fields and Curtis drove their daughter to the Cuney Homes Apartments so that she could fight a 14-year-old girl.
The teen was sitting with her friends and twin sister on the basketball court of the apartments when the family pulled up in a blue Dodge Caravan and surrounded her. Fields and Curtis provoked the girls into fighting, according to court documents.
The parents got mad, however, when it appeared the other teen was getting the best of their daughter. Fields allegedly slammed the other teen to the ground, and Curtis allegedly punched the girl in the head and placed her in a choke hold.
The attacked child sustained bruising on her neck, lacerations below her right eye and had blood coming from her foot. She also complained that her back hurt and her skin was burning.
Investigators reviewed cell phone video of the fight. They said the video clearly shows the parents provoking the girls to fight, then joining in on the attack.
The mother was released from jail on a $5,000 bond.
The father was being held without bond.
