Grandmother charged with kidnapping 4-month-old granddaughter

PASADENA, Texas – A grandmother is accused of kidnapping her 4-month-old granddaughter after she took the child from a child care facility without permission Friday in Pasadena.

Robin Lavois is charged with kidnapping after Pasadena Police said she took Kaitlyn Lavois from the Kook Kids Daycare Friday in Pasadena. She is being held on $30,000 bond.

The child’s father dropped her off and instructed the daycare staff that the grandmother was not allowed to pick up the child due to mental health problems and anger issues, court documents state.

Once the child had been taken, an Amber Alert was issued late Friday night with a description of Lavois’ vehicle.

A witness called police to report that a woman had answered her Craigslist advertisement selling baby formula, court documents state. With this information, police were able to locate Lavois and the child who had not been harmed.
