HOUSTON—A former Harris County deputy has been indicted by a grand jury on a charge of official oppression for a beating that was videotaped.
The original complaint stemmed from an incident that occurred on September 10, 2011. Investigators said a deputy pulled over a man for a traffic violation. That man said as his family members approached the scene, they were all beaten. He claims his ribs were broken, his father's face was bruised and his mother was dragged.
The incident was captured on a patrol car dashboard camera.
The charge is a Class “A” misdemeanor and carries a punishment of up to one year of jail confinement, a fine not to exceed $4,000 and/ or both if convicted.
Drummond is expected back in court Tuesday.
