HOUSTON – A former Houston police officer who raped a woman in the back of his patrol car will serve 10 years in prison for his crime.

Officer Adan Jimenez Carranza reached the plea deal Tuesday morning.
According to investigators, Carranza handcuffed a woman and placed her in the back of his vehicle following a traffic accident on June 18, 2012. The woman said after everyone else left the scene, he sexually assaulted her, then drove her to jail where he booked for reckless driving.
DNA evidence found in the back seat of the patrol car tied the officer to the assault.
