HOUSTON – Family and friends of Andrea Senteno held a barbecue fundraiser Thursday for the 24-year-old mother, who died Saturday morning after a hit-and-run accident.

The fundraiser was held at a home on Valley Stream Street as the family tries to raise money for Senteno’s funeral services, which will be held Saturday.

“We are just blessed that people that we don’t even know are coming out and being supportive of us,” Sylvia Delacruz, Senteno’s aunt, said.

Senteno died early Saturday morning after being struck by a truck in the 2900 block of West Mount Houston.

Her family believes she was walking to her aunt’s house after friends had left her at a nightclub.

None of them can understand how anyone could have left her to die.

Investigators believe the vehicle that hit her was a dark Ford F-150. Relatives said it was not an accident.

“It just doesn’t make sense,” Sarah Aguilar, the victim’s cousin, said. “She was just down the street. She, it just doesn’t make sense. There’s a lot of questions that the family has.”

Senteno’s family is pleading for the driver to come forward. At the same, time they are preparing for the future of Senteno’s boys, who are ages 2 and 7.

The victim’s family said whatever money that is left after her burial will go towards the boys’ education.

A fund has also been set up at Compean Funeral Home on Broadway Boulevard in Houston to help with expenses.
