CONROE—An armed robbery in Conroe concluded safely Saturday morning after several tense hours involving SWAT.
Around 2:45 a.m., a customer drove up to the drive-thru window at the McDonald’s Shell station at the corner of Highway 242 and I-45, where an employee indicated to the customer that there were armed suspects inside, said Lieutenant Dan Norris with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office.
That customer made a 911 call and Oak Ridge and Conroe Police officers arrived on the scene. They believed that employees were still inside the store with the suspects.
According to investigators, employees later told deputies that at least two armed men had entered the restaurant through the drive-thru window. One employee was able to safely escape while the suspects were distracted.
Once they were on scene, authorities were unable to contact anyone inside the business so SWAT and crisis negotiators were called in. Responders made several more attempts to contact those inside the McDonald’s before another employee came out from behind a counter.
Two employees were still unaccounted for, so SWAT entered the business and found them hiding in the backroom, according to reports. The suspects were gone.
No injuries were reported.
Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest or indictment of these suspects. Anonymous tips can be submitted at 800-392-STOP.
