HOUSTON – The Houston Police Department called for the lockdown of an elementary school on the east side after two armed suspects evaded police.

HPD said officers were called to the 4100-block of Lucille near Abernathy around 11:40 a.m. Friday.

Police said it all started when two armed men got into a dispute with a homeowner on Lucille. The homeowner opened fire on the men, police said, shooting up their SUV as they sped away. The men crashed into a nearby ditch and then ran away on foot. Evidence at the scene suggested one of the men was wounded.

Nearby Dogan Elementary School was placed on lockdown, according to the Houston Independent School District.

Aerial views from Air 11 showed a black SUV with several of its windows busted out.

The school lockdown was lifted shortly before 2 p.m.
