HOUSTON – One person is in critical condition after being shot in the head while in a car outside of a party in north Houston early Sunday, deputies said.
According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, deputies found a vehicle sitting on West Road near Ella just before 12:30 a.m. The deputy found the male driver unconscious with a gunshot wound to the head.
The victim was taken by ambulance to Ben Taub Hospital and was listed in critical condition, deputies said.
Investigators discovered that the car had come from a nearby neighborhood where a house party was being held.
The organizers of the party were having guests patted down at the door, when several males approached. The males decided to leave once they saw that guests were being checked for weapons.
Shortly after, another vehicle pulled up and gunfire was exchanged, deputies said.
The victim, who had been shot in the head, was able to leave the neighborhood in a car before he eventually passed out, deputies said.
Deputies said that they do not have any suspects in custody and do not have a description of the suspect vehicle. HCSO is asking anyone with information to call Harris County Homicide, or Crime Stoppers.
