HARRIS COUNTY, Texas -– Deputies said a driver plowed through four backyards and several fences before hitting a pole and coming to a stop overnight.

The crash happened late Thursday on Spears Road near TC Jester in northwest Harris County.

Deputies with the sheriff’s office said the driver of a Scion tC was heading eastbound when he left the roadway and crashed through the backyard fences of several homes.

Startled residents said at first they thought a storm had hit.

“We tried to figure out what kind of lightning did it, until we found the tC,” said resident Robert Hamilton. “Then we realized it was a Toyota that did it. It flew through, I mean, we all came out here and started walking from this house, to this house, to this house to find the car, and then the car was tucked over here.”

Witnesses said the driver stumbled out of the wrecked car but stayed at the scene.

Deputies arrived and took the man into custody. They said he possibly faces a charge of driving while intoxicated.

No injuries were reported.
