HOUSTON -- Two people died and one person was critically injured in an overnight shooting that sent a driver crashing into Houston National Cemetery, police said.
Officers with the Houston Police Department said they were called to the 1300 block of Greens Parkway near Grand Plaza around 10 p.m. Wednesday.
They found Johntrwell Johnson, 30, and Deterrion Johnson, 37, both wounded. Johntrwell was later pronounced dead at the hospital while Deterrion was said to be in stable condition.
Witnesses told police they saw a white car speed away following the shooting scene.
A few minutes later, a 911 call came in to report a similar car had crashed into a fence around Houston National Cemetery on Veterans Memorial Drive. The driver, later identified as 30-year-old Teriek McDonald, got out, collapsed, and died from a gunshot wound.
Homicide investigators said it appeared the three shooting victims got into some kind of altercation, but McDonald’s connection to the initial shooting scene wasn’t immediately confirmed. It was also unknown who fired the shots.
Anyone with information about this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
