HOUSTON – A deputy constable and a wrecker driver were hospitalized after a suspected drunk driver crashed into their scene on the Sam Houston Parkway early Sunday in northwest Houston.

According to the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office, it happened around 2 a.m. near Antoine Drive.

Deputies were working a car fire on the eastbound lanes when a car went around their freeway blockade. The car then slammed into the back end of the deputies’ SUV, hitting the deputy and a wrecker driver.

Both were both transported to the hospital in stable condition.

Deputies said the driver, who caused the accident, was arrested for suspicion of being intoxicated.
