PORTER, Texas – A Kingwood mom allegedly told deputies she drank beer, took Prozac and Xanax and smoked synthetic marijuana Wednesday before getting behind the wheel of her car with her baby daughter.
Jessica Gutierrez, 40, was seen driving erratically near Loop 494 and F.M. 1314 near Porter around 11 p.m.
At one point, deputies said she stopped her car in the middle of the road before pulling into a Valero gas station.
Deputies were questioning Gutierrez when they spotted the baby girl in the back seat of the car. They didn’t notice the baby at first because she was hidden by a pile of clothes, boxes and a skateboard.
The rest of the vehicle was filled with clutter.
The infant was in a car seat and appeared to be OK.
"I don’t know if I’ll ever see you again," Gutierrez told the baby girl as she held her. "I don’t know what I will do without you."
She tried to convince deputies not to call CPS.
"Why can’t I get a hold of her dad, so she can go to her cousin’s instead of going to the system?" she asked.
The baby and a 12-year-old child are staying with family members while CPS investigates.
Gutierrez failed a sobriety test and was transferred to jail where she was being held on a $25,000 bond.
She has been arrested before and charged with endangering a child and drug possession.
