DALLAS -- Authorities are investigating the death of a Dallas County jail inmate who died after fighting with another prisoner.
Officials at the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department say Mario Bernardo was taken off life support Sunday evening at Parkland Memorial Hospital, The Dallas Morning News reported.

An initial investigation indicates that Bernardo and the other unidentified inmate fought at the Lew Sterrett Justice Center on Saturday. Later that afternoon, medical staff noticed that Bernardo appeared to be having a possible seizure and called for Dallas Fire-Rescue.

He was taken to the hospital and underwent surgery for a head injury.

No other details were immediately available, the newspaper reported.
