HOUSTON — Police have identified the young couple found murdered in their southwest Houston home. They are 23-year-old Jose Miguel Salinas, and his girlfriend, Melissa Ann Guerra.

Their 4-month-old daughter was found lying between the bodies and crying. The horrific discovery was made at the Pavilion Place apartments in the 5200 block of Renwick at Westpark around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

A neighbor was walking her dog when she heard a child screaming and crying. The door was open so she looked inside and made the horrific discovery.

Residents are on edge. They say the apartment managers did not notify them about what is going on.

“I was coming home from work and I saw all the cop cars, checking people in, a bunch of people standing around,” said Kalu Nwoke, a resident.

“It happened in front of our apartment, so I mean I don’t know it’s awful what people to do one another,” said another woman.

It was a mysterious case because no one heard or saw anything. One woman says her brother-in-law saw the suspects running.

“My brother-in-law saw two people running…I think he saw two men running,” said the woman. But there is no exact description of the suspects.

Police said there was no apparent forced entry into the apartment and the place had not been ransacked. There were also no witnesses and no one even heard the gunshots.

Relatives say Guerra was working at a clothing store. Her boyfriend was a stay at home father, because daycare was too expensive. The baby is in CPS custody. Relatives have come forward and plan on caring for the baby.
