HOUSTON –- Police said an early morning burglary suspect was taken into custody after an officer spotted him on the roof of a building trying to steal copper.
It happened on Sawyer Street at Edwards Street in west Houston around 2 a.m. Friday, according to the Houston Police Department.
HPD said it received a call from an alarm company saying they could see a burglar on the property. The first officer on the scene saw the man on the roof of a metal processing plant.
When the suspect saw police, he jumped off and tried to run away. He was caught a short time later.
Police said the man was trying to take copper and other scrap metals.
