HOUSTON – A 4-year-old boy is back with his father after a suspect stole the car he was in Saturday morning in west Houston, police said.

According to the Houston Police Department, a father pulled up to Sammy’s Bakery, located on Bissonnet and Leawood, at around 8:30 a.m., leaving his car running with a 4-year-old boy in the backseat.

Then, male suspect jumped into the car and fled the scene, heading south on Leawood, police said.

The father called HPD, who then began to search for the stolen car. About 30 minutes later, witnesses on Plum Brook and Amberwood saw a male pull up in a black Toyota Camry. The man locked the doors and slowly jogged away.

Witnesses then saw the 4-year-old boy coming around the corner of the car, so they called police, who arrived soon after.

The child’s father a short time after that and had a tearful reunion with his son, police said. The child appeared to be OK.
