BACLIFF, Texas -- A Galveston County man and woman were arrested Sunday after deputies found a body wrapped in plastic inside a Bacliff trailer.
Officials said there were signs that an attempt had been made to clean up the scene.
The suspects, 26-year-old Samantha Escobedo-Resendez and 31-year-old German Perez-Velasquez admitted to police that they wrapped the body in plastic.
The victim suffered from a number of injuries, according to authorities. An autopsy was performed on Monday to try to learn exactly how he died. Officials said there were signs of a physical confrontation of some sort.
”There are several possible scenarios that come into play in this,” Major Ray Tuttoilmundo of the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office. “Is it a straight up murder? Could it be self defense? Could it be a whole variety of different situations? Yes it could.”
The suspects are charged with tampering with evidence and are being held in the Galveston County Jail on $100,000. At least one of them lives in the trailer.
The case is going to be presented to a grand jury and other charges could follow. Investigators said the outcome of the autopsy will also play a significant role.
The victim has not yet been positively identified pending family notification.
