HOUSTON – Bellaire police have released a suspect sketch of a man accused of posing as a delivery driver and forcing his way into a woman’s home.

It happened at about 12:30 p.m. on Sept. 18 in the 5400 block of Pocahontas, police said.

Investigators said the man was carrying a small box and a sheet of paper when he knocked on the front door of the home. When the woman, who was babysitting, answered he told her he needed her signature for a delivery.

As the woman opened the door, the man grabbed her and forced his way inside the house, where he took her into a bedroom and made her stay while he stole items, police said. Police said three other men also entered the house to provide assistance.

“A nanny was frantic with her baby, someone had assaulted her, locked her in a room,” said Dana Katz, a neighbor.

Authorities say the nanny, who is a grandmother, was beaten because she refused to cooperate.

Then the toddler started crying and the home invaders told her to keep the kid quiet.

The men stayed in the home for approximately 10 minutes, police said.

The thieves appeared to have been driving two separate vehicles – a blue older model single cab pickup truck and a black unknown model Honda.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Bellaire police at 713-662-8106.
