HOUSTON – Experts are examining a bag of bones found Tuesday morning in northwest Harris County.

Deputies say they are definitely human remains but the naked body was too badly decomposed to determine age, race or sex.

Someone noticed the plastic bag near the 12700 block of Walters Road and called for help.

The remains were found in the 12700 block Walters Road and they believe the victim had been there at least a week.

The bag has been turned over to the medical examiner to determine the cause of death and other information.

The HCSO Missing Persons Unit will join the investigation once the M.E. helps them narrow down the search.

"At this point, it’s going to be up to DNA to determine the identity of this person, or if somebody can tell us they have a loved one missing," said Sgt. Felipe Rivera with Harris County Homicide Division. "So at this point, we’re just, it’s a waiting game."

Investigators believe the victim had been there at least a week.
