HOUSTON – A baby died early Saturday after a three-vehicle crash near the North Freeway in north Houston, police said.
According to the Houston Police Department, a dark blue Tahoe was speeding when it plowed into the back of a gray Ford Escape, which then slammed into the back of a Chevrolet truck.
The baby was inside the Escape sandwiched between the two vehicles, police said. The accident happened at 11:40 p.m. Friday in the 9000 block of the North Freeway southbound feeder road near West Gulf Bank.
The Tahoe rolled on its roof and the female driver and the two male passengers took off on foot, police said.
The infant was transported to Houston Northwest Medical Center, where the child later died.
Police said the Tahoe does not appear to be stolen, and they are looking for the driver right now.
The driver of the pickup truck was OK.
