Authorities arrest suspect connected to armed robbery in The Woodlands

THE WOODLANDS, Texas – A 25-year-old man was arrested in connection with an armed robbery outside a motel in Montgomery County early Saturday, deputies said.

According to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Christopher Jay Johnson is charged with aggravated robbery.

A man told investigators that he was robbed at gunpoint at 2:10 a.m. outside a Best Western located in the 17000 block of Interstate 45, just north of state Highway 242.

The victim said he was walking in the when Johnson approached him with a handgun and demanded his money.

The victim gave Johnson an undisclosed amount of money, who then fled the scene in a vehicle in a nearby parking lot, deputies said. The victim was able to provide investigators with a description of the suspect vehicle.

A unit with the Conroe Police Department spotted the suspect vehicle in Conroe, and was able to take Johnson into custody.

The money stolen and hand gun utilized in the robbery were recovered.
