HARRIS COUNTY, Texas -– Two people were taken into custody and two others got away after they were caught red-handed breaking into a storage unit, deputies said.

It happened along Highway 249 at Fallbrook Drive in northwest Harris County around 11 p.m. Thursday.

According to sheriff’s office deputies, a man went to his storage unit and saw two men and two women unloading what appeared to be their unit. A moment later, however, he realized the group was inside the unit of an elderly friend of his.

“And I say like man, that’s not even, that’s not they storage. So I called the lady that work here. I said, ‘I think you better call the police ‘cause I think these people here are breaking into somebody’s storage. I think they broke into more than one of them,” he said.

The witness called 911 to report the suspicious activity, and when deputies arrived, they said two of the suspects took off running. The other two were taken into custody.

Deputies said the group had cut the lock on the unit they were in and appeared to be burglarizing it.

The witness who called 911 told KHOU 11 News this isn't the first break-in at the business.

“I guess in the last few weeks or so it happened – someone broke into one of the storage units or something ,” said Tony Bryant. “I keep my stuff here. It’s a good place to keep your stuff at. It’s not that bad – they caught the criminals.”
