CONROE, Texas – A woman’s live-in boyfriend was arrested and charged after beating both of her little girls, sending one of them to the hospital in critical condition, according to Conroe police.
The boyfriend, 21-year-old Alberto Pedro Vazquez, was charged with felony injury to a child.
Vazquez, who is not the biological father of either girl, was babysitting Thursday when he called the girls’ mom and told her something was wrong with her 4-year-old.
When the mom went home she found her daughter unresponsive, then she and Vazquez rushed the child to Conroe Regional Medical Center. After seeing the girl’s condition, emergency personnel airlifted the child to another hospital for advanced treatment.
Investigators from the CPD Criminal Investigations Division, Crime Scene Investigators, Children’s Protective Services and representatives from the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office responded to the hospital, and later to the family’s apartment to investigate.
Then on Friday, school officials called authorities after seeing facial trauma on the 8-year-old. That child was taken to a hospital in The Woodlands for evaluation. Conroe PD investigators also responded to that hospital to initiate an investigation into that child’s non-life threatening injuries.
Vazquez was booked into the Montgomery County Sheriff’s jail. His bond was set at $500,000.
A protective order to prohibit Vazquez from being around the children was also being issued. Further charges are expected as the investigation progresses.
