RICHMOND, Texas – A Richmond mother who crashed her car with two small children inside  early Saturday was drunk, according to police.

Nadine Garcia, 23, was charged with intoxication assault and driving while intoxicated.

Police said Garcia was traveling eastbound on Jackson around 4:50 a.m. when she lost control of her Jeep Grand Cherokee and struck a concrete pillar at the Collins intersection.

A 3-year-old was ejected through the front windshield. The child was airlifted to Memorial Hermann Hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.

Garcia and the other child, a 4-year-old, were transported to Oak Bend Hospital where they were treated for injuries.

Garcia was then transported to the Fort Bend County Jail.
