MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas -– Three brothers were taken into custody following a high-speed chase from Channelview into Montgomery County, deputies said Sunday.

According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy responded to a robbery at a gas station near First Street and Market Street. When the deputy arrived, three male suspects tried to ram his patrol car. The deputy fired three shots and a chase ensued.

As many as 30 law enforcement units pursued the suspects as they made their way north to the Eastex Freeway.

After about 30 minutes and 50 miles, the chase ended along the Eastex Freeway service road at Wallis Street in Montgomery County where deputies deployed spike strips.  When the suspects tried to drive around on strip they lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a feeder road, deputies said. Then deputies said the suspects ditched their vehicle and ran into a wooded area.

“The next thing you know we have the helicopters here, and the officers came up and were putting vests on,” said one witness.”

K-9 units and officers combed through the woods looking for the men. Deputies said they caught one of the men while police dogs located the other two.

“I was on parole,” one of the suspects told KHOU 11 News as he was taken into custody. “I made a mistake, but I did nothing wrong. These police brutalized me, tazed me.”

Officials confirmed they used a Taser on the man. No other injuries were reported.

Deputies identified the suspects and the charges they faced on Monday. Jacob Brawner was charged with assault with bodily injury on a public servant, evading detention and evading in a motor vehicle. Joshua Brawer  was charged with evading detention and Christoper Brawner was charged with tampering or fabricating evidence.
