HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A father and son and a family friend were shot Monday night in an attempted robbery at a home in northwest Harris County, deputies said.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Safe Homes Task Force was called to the 11100 block of Fairway Drive at about 8 p.m.

According to deputies, a 911 caller stated two men entered the home through an open garage. The suspects pointed their guns at the family while demanding access to a safe and ended up opening fire. We don’t know if they got away with anything.

A man, 47, and his son, 21, were both shot. A friend of the family was also shot. All three victims were rushed to the hospital.

The armed men fled in a white Toyota pickup, deputies said.

By 6 a.m. Tuesday the son, a student at the University of Houston, was back at the home after being released from the hospital. He said his father was shot in the lung.

“Some people came, they tried to rob us,” said the son. “We got shot. That’s all.”

At 6 p.m. Tuesday the other two victims were still in the hospital but no longer listed in critical condition.

A friend of the family told KHOU 11 News the family has no enemies.

“They’re great friends,” said Gagandeep Singh. “I don’t know what kind of person could’ve done this. I don’t know. People are just sick, just mental.”

Singh said the family buys and sells gas stations.
