HOUSTON – A pair of suspected burglars were arrested and another remains at large after they were caught in the act at a northeast Houston convenience store overnight.

According to the Houston Police Department, officers were dispatched at 1:30 a.m. Wednesday to a burglary in progress at the Qwik Stop convenience store located in the 6300 block of Laura Koppe at Camay.

When HPD arrived at the scene, they caught one male suspect coming out of the store, and two others running down the street.

Officers apprehended one male hiding behind a house, but the third suspect is still at large.

Investigators said the three suspects used a sledgehammer to knock a hole in the wall of the store. They then used the hammer and bolt cutters to steal cigarettes, the cash box from an ATM and the contents of some game machines.

The store owner had watched the three on security cameras from his residence.
