19-year-old woman arrested, accused of forcing teen into sex slavery

HOUSTON - A 19-year-old woman has been arrested and charged for her role in forcing a teenager into sexual slavery, according to the Harris County District Attorney's Office.

Denise Coronado has been charged with compelling prostitution, which carries a penalty of up to 20 years in state prison.

According to the DA's office, a 14-year-old girl said she was walking down a street when she was pulled into a van and driven to a spot in a wooden area.

The teen told authorities she was kept there against her will for five days before she was taken to a Houston motel.

She was introduced to Coronado at the motel. The girl said while at the motel, she was threatened, burned with a cigarette and forced to engage in prostitution.

Coronado allegedly took a photo of the 14-year-old and posted it to the website, Backpage.com, a site known for illegal activity.

According to deputies, the girl was forced to have sex with more than two dozen men during a one week period before she escaped.

The investigation is ongoing at this time.

Coronado is expected in the 176th District Court on Monday for arraignment.
