HOUSTON – Homicide detectives are investigating a shooting from after a 19-year-old was found dead Friday evening in a parking lot in southwest Houston, police said.
The Houston Police Department said that at about 9 p.m. officers responded to a call of a shooting near South Gessner Road near Westbrae Parkway. When they arrived, police found the 19-year-old man shot one time at close range in the passenger seat of a vehicle in front of a shopping center.
Homicide investigators said that the victim went to the parking lot in another vehicle to meet with a group of people, whose car he ended up in when he was found dead. Why the two parties were meeting was not known.
The victim then decided that he was going to rob the men he was meeting and pulled a gun on them, police said. However, one of the men he was attempting to rob was also armed and shot the 19-year-old.
Police said that everyone fled the scene, but several the men involved returned to the parking lot. Investigators have not said whether there will be any charges filed in the case.
