SAN ANTONIO -- An Amber Alert was issued Monday night for an 11-month-old boy believed to have been abducted by his father, 23-year-old Jonathan Guillen, Sr.
Guillen is suspected of shooting his mother's 44-year-old boyfriend several times in the stomach on December 13.
The suspect's mother said her boyfriend was drunk and hitting her. She claimed her son was only trying to protect her.
Investigators said after the shooting Guillen fled the apartment, taking his baby boy with him.
Guillen was last seen driving a black 2002 Chevy Trail Blazer. But that vehicle turned up Tuesday afternoon at the San Antonio apartment complex where the shooting occurred.
The child is still missing.
Authorities have not released any information on what they found inside the vehicle.
"Tell my son that I'm sorry," Guillen’s mother said. "If I was more careful about who I got involved with then my son wouldn't be facing what he's now facing."
SAPD says they believe the child could be in grave or immediate danger.
Guillen is described as 5 feet 8 inches tall, 185 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He was wearing a white muscle shirt with black or red shorts when last seen.
Anyone with information is asked to call the San Antonio Police Department at 210-207-7660.
