HOUSTON – Houston police have identified the two women who were found dead after a SWAT standoff in Montrose on Tuesday afternoon.

The women were found fatally shot at about 12:50 p.m. at 239 Emerson.

Police responded to the home after 911 operators received a call reporting a murder-suicide.

When officers arrived they found Terry Sullivan, 67, dead inside the apartment. While checking for other victims they found Barbara Annie Mayes, 60, in a bedroom armed with a gun.

Police said Mayes was unresponsive to verbal commands to drop the weapon so the Houston Police Department SWAT team was called.

SWAT officers later determined Mayes suffered an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound and was also deceased.

An autopsy by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences determined the victims cause of death to be a murder-suicide.
