HOUSTON – One person is dead and another was injured following a shooting outside a southwest Houston after-hours night club.

It happened outside the H2O Night Club in the 9400 block of Country Creek. Houston Police said a private party there was winding down. That’s when a group of regulars showed up. For some reason, an altercation broke out, and someone opened fire.

When it was over, a man in his late 20’s or early 30’s was dead. The other was taken to Ben Taub Hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg. He’s expected to survive.

After gunfire erupted, a private security team with Blue Moon Investigations and Security was patrolling a nearby church. They heard the gunfire and hustled to help.

“They see what’s going on, they see what’s happening, so they’re trying to help the situation,” said Sgt. Richard Rodriguez, with HPD Homicide. “It causes the shooter to flee the location.”

By the time HPD arrived, the shooter had fled in a maroon Ford Expedition.

Police said at least 10 to 15 bullets were fired.

“I seen the dead body laying over there,” said Santi Perry. “It didn’t even surprise me because it happens so much out here. At nighttime there’s nothing but trouble out here.”

Police have detained several witnesses including the club’s bouncer for questioning. Witnesses said the shooter was wearing all black. The problem is club security was too, so police want to be sure the bouncer wasn’t involved.

Neighbors in the area said it’s just part of life in the area, but even Houston Police say lately the violence has gotten out of hand.

“There was another shooting here a couple weeks ago,” said Sgt. Rodriguez. “We’ll check their licenses they have and see what we can do to shut this place down.”

People in the neighborhood say it’s about time something was done.

“This place needs to be cleaned up,” said Perry. “It really does.”

If you have any information on the shooter’s whereabouts or this incident, contact Houston Police.
