HOUSTON – Homicide detectives are looking for clues in the shooting death of a young mother in the Spring Branch area.
The victim was shot twice in the 8500 block of Pitner at the Northwest Corners Apartments around 11 a.m. She called 911 saying she had been shot.
She was rushed to the hospital, but doctors couldn’t save her.
Police say the woman's 2-year-old girl was still sitting in her high chair when they arrived, but she wasn’t harmed. They believe the toddler witnessed the shooting.
The woman’s husband had a tracker on her cell phone and police found it in a nearby field. K-9 units were sniffing the area to look for other clues.
The husband was questioned but he was at work when the shooting happened, according to detectives. The couple's son was at school.
Neighbors said they saw no signs of trouble.
“That’s what’s so amazing to me. We never heard any fights or arguments or anything like that,” said Bryce Yarborough.
Police said there were no signs of a break in and no valuables were missing, other than the woman’s cell phone. Police said they have no motive or suspect.
Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
