HOUSTON – A 72-year-old woman was killed when a U.S. Mail big-rig crashed into her minivan in northwest Harris County Friday afternoon.
It happened in the 8300 block of Willow Place.
Nearby residents said the intersection has been troublesome in the past, because people think it’s a four-way stop, but it’s not.
They ran to the scene when they heard tires screeching and a loud crash.
There were two people, including the victim, in the minivan, and a driver in the truck.
Good Samaritans pulled the 72-year-old woman from the driver’s seat of the van and tried to give her CPR, but one of those witnesses said it was clear she was already deceased.
Witnesses said the victim had a poodle in her lap, and the dog survived the crash.
The passenger and the driver of the truck were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The victim’s identity was not released.
