ANGLETON, Texas-- Decorated tables, cakes and balloons filled the Country Village Care Center in Angleton Thursday as a resident and his twin sister celebrated their 102nd birthday.
Howard Pangburn and Hazel Vick are affectionately known as "Hip" and "Hop."
"I am the oldest by ten minutes," said Hazel.
Vick lives just outside Tyler in Hideaway and made the trip to celebrate with her younger brother in Angleton.
Pangburn moved to the facililty last year from West Columbia after wearing a lot of hats in the small Brazoria town.
He served as a councilman, a city judge and worked for the fire department for years. So, you can imagine that ringing in his milestone birthday would bring out all sorts of who's who.
Johnny Duques with the West Columbia fire department talked about a conversation he had with the now 102-year-old.
"He said, 'If I'd known I was gonna live this long, I would have taken better care of myself,'" recalled Duques.
We asked Pangburn his secret to living so long and he wasted no time giving us an answer.
"Do you eat anything special do you do anything in particular to keep you going?" asked reporter Tiffany Craig.
"I drink that West Columbia water all the time," Pangburn quipped.
He also avoids smoking and alcohol, but his sister said not so fast.
"A little bit won't hurt you," said Vick.
"Did you do some of that?" we asked.
"Am I supposed to say yes or no?" she asked with a grin.
The twins tell us their birthday parties seem to grow each year.
"We had all this on our 100th birthday," said Vick. "We thought that would be the last one."
Happy Birthday Hip and Hop and here's to many more.
