BAYTOWN – There were some scary moments outside a Baytown elementary school Friday afternoon when a gunshot rang out.

A teenager dropped a handgun outside San Jacinto Elementary just after 3 p.m. and it went off.

Fortunately, no one was hit.

The teen picked up the gun and got into a pickup that sped away from the school in the 2600 block of Virginia.

Officers later arrested 17-year-old Raymundo Flores III at his home and he was charged with unlawfully carry of a weapon.

Flores told officers he went to the school to pick up his cousins and forgot the gun was in his pocket.
