KINGWOOD, Texas—Police say two men are in custody after they robbed a pair of pharmacies in Kingwood and fled to a home just a few blocks away.

The Houston Police Department responded to a robbery-in-progress call at the Walgreens in the 1200 block of Kingwood Drive around 6:50 p.m. Sunday. Witnesses said the suspects left in a Chevrolet Silverado pickup. Just minutes later, a robbery call came in from a neighboring CVS.

Police searched the neighborhood and found the suspects’ truck parked outside a home in the 2300 block of Plateau Court.

According to HPD, as officers surrounded the home, both suspects ran out the backdoor. One was caught, but the other went back inside.

A SWAT team was called in, and after several hours of failed negotiations, officers forced their way into the home and took the remaining suspect into custody.

“We don’t have very much crime out here, so this is a big deal for us in the subdivision,” said one neighbor.

No injuries were reported during the robberies, but an HPD K9 bit an officer, who was taken to the hospital with lacerations to his arm.

The neighborhood was locked down during the standoff and several people trying to leave were stuck until it ended.

“And so I ended up staying at my brother’s house and watching the Super Bowl,” Jake Sebren, a neighbor, said.

Residents said they are concerned over what happened in their neighborhood. Some say they have been concerned about this rental house for a while.

“Very loud, they didn’t have any respect for the neighbors as far as the noise factors,” Julie Avalle, a resident, said.

Neighbors said the guys who lived here kept odd hours and kept to themselves.
