HARRIS COUNTY – A flight instructor and a student were killed after their small plane crashed into a building at Hooks Airport Sunday evening in northwest Harris County, officials confirmed.

It happened at the airport located at 8830 Boudreaux Road around 7:15 p.m.

According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, the two were performing touch and go maneuvers in the Cesna 172 when the pilot called the tower to report engine trouble. The plane then slammed into a hangar.

By the time first responders were able to get to the victims, the injuries were too severe.

The student was pronounced dead at the scene and the instructor was taken by ambulance to Memorial Hermann Hospital, but also died.

The pilot could be heard reporting trouble to the tower in an audio feed on KDWH. The feed came from LiveATC.net.
