HOUSTON – A female officer with the Houston Police Department was struck by a vehicle while directing traffic near Reliant Park.
According to HPD, the incident occurred around 11:30 a.m. Saturday as the officer guided cars in the 8400-block of Lantern Point Drive.
The officer was sent to the hospital with a bruise and cut on her lip. She was expected to make a full recovery.
The driver who struck her was questioned at the scene. Preliminary reports showed alcohol was not a factor.
The incident occurred in a stretch of road between the Harris County Children’s Protective Services Office and a parking lot for Reliant.
