HOUSTON -— Houston police said they used GPS to track down the location of a man who allegedly stole a truck at knifepoint overnight.

It was around 12:30 a.m. Thursday when officers with the Houston Police Department received a 911 call about a carjacking. They were told a small pickup truck was taken at knifepoint on Ella at 43rd.

HPD said officers responded and were able to track the truck using GPS. As they got close to Heights Boulevard and I-10, the signal went away. An officer turned into the Walmart parking lot on Yale and found the parked truck as a man walked nearby.

The man, who police said had a BB gun and a knife, was quickly taken into custody. O

ne of the victims later identified the man as the person who took the truck, police said.
