RICHMOND, Texas -- Usually there's not much to report at schools during spring break, but Bush High School in Richmond is making headlines.
"Yeah, it's crazy," said student Chris Thomas. "It's not good."
The band director, Eduardo Hernandez, has been charged with having an inappropriate relationship with a student.
We're told she's a junior and a member of the band.
"It's not right," said student Demarco Grice. "You shouldn't be messing with kids underage that's part of our age group."
Students told us that news of Hernandez has dominated social media but it's still hard to believe.
"He has a smile on his face all the time when talking to the boys and the girls," said Grice.
In the subdivision across from the campus on FM 1464, we talked to a Bush High parent.
"When we send our kids to school, it's supposed to be a safe environment where they are to learn, not to be in inappropriate relationships with adults that know better," said Michele Lytle.
Students who know the girl said that the relationship started more than a year ago. They got caught after she sent pictures of herself cuddling with Hernandez to friends and it was spread around.
"I can't even believe it," said Lytle. "It's happening everywhere, but it's too much at this point."
An e-mail was sent to parents informing them the employee had been put on leave and now charged with having an improper relationship between an educator and a student.
He remains in the Fort Bend County Jail on a $35,000 bond.
