HOUSTON – A University of Houston police officer who was killed in a traffic accident last December had cocaine in her system, according to the Harris County Medical Examiner.
Officer Ann O’Donnell, 24, died on Christmas Eve when her patrol car struck a tree. She was on duty at the time.
O’Donnell’s family declined to comment on the autopsy report because they haven’t seen it.
They did issue a written statement through a family friend.
"Ann lost her life trying to help people she didn’t even know, responding to a report of a kidnapping in progress," the statement said. "What we do know is that Ann’s family and friends continue to grieve her loss and miss her very much. She left a hole in our hearts that can never be filled."
O’Donnell was originally from Galveston.
