The fallout from Chick-fil-a's opposition to gay marriage continues.
The Jim Henson Company is cutting ties with the fast-food chain. The company was in a partnership with Chick-fil-A to feature Jim Henson’s Creature Shop toys in kids’ meals from July until August 18th.
But last week, Chick-fil-a restaurant's CEO Dan McCarthy said in an interview that the food retailer supports the Biblical definition of the family unit.
According to a report from the LGBT advocacy group Equality Matters, Chick-fil-A donated more than $3 million from 2003 to 2009 to Christian groups that oppose homosexuality. The report goes on to say the company then escalated its donations, giving $2 million to causes in 2010.
The Jim Henson Company says it will be donating its final residual check from Chick-fil-a to the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, an advocacy group for lesbian, gay and trans-gender people.
