HOUSTON – As Apple prepares to unveil its latest products at a press conference next Tuesday, tech companies in Berlin are jumping the gun and showing off their new toys today.

The Berlin IFA, a consumer electronics show, is underway this week, and smartphones are what’s hot.

Computer and tablet-maker Acer released photos of the Liquid S2. It’s said to be the world's first smartphone with a 4K camera. 4K isn’t the price tag. It’s the technology that lets you shoot video in ultra-high definition.

The Liquid S2 is so big, it’s reported to be more like a cross between a tablet and a phone – or a “phablet.” And with 4K video shooting at 60 frames per second, you can slow down your kid’s soccer match in high detail, just like they do on pro sports broadcasts.

The only downside to this 4K video is the files will be huge, so you'll need plenty of SD memory cards if you plan on shooting a lot of video.

The phone runs on Android and comes in red or black.

The Liquid S2 is due to come out in October. It’s price tag hasn’t been announced.
