HOUSTON - The Greater Houston Partnership 2013 “Dream Big” World Trade Soiree was held on Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013 at the beautiful Hotel ZaZa. Hundreds of Houstonians mingled with international dignitaries, government and economic development leaders, and other VIPs to celebrate the city of Houston as a gateway to global markets.
The event was filled with fine cuisine from around the world, a casino game table and hundreds of silent auction items. As Soiree guests travelled from room to room, they were able to sample ethnically diverse dinner stations, try their hand at the casino game table, enjoy dancing and entertainment which represented the diverse cultures of Houston’s regional trade partners.
The Silent Auction featured an array of items with international flair, many generously donated by Houston’s consular corps. Exquisite artwork, jewelry, cookware, and pottery were just a few of the unique offerings waiting to go to the highest bidder. Other items included a portrait session, a private wine tasting for 10 guests, round-trip airline tickets from Southwest Airlines, a set of four beer mugs from the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany and more. Guests placed bids throughout the evening.
Proceeds from the World Trade Soiree will help the Greater Houston Partnership fund critical activities including efforts to solve regional issues and spur economic development, international trade and public policy.
