Ark. Supreme Court throws out restraining order blocking executions drug being used

Court battles continue over scheduled executions throughout Monday

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - The Arkansas Supreme Court has thrown out a temporary restraining order that ordered the return of one of the execution drugs.

The ruling comes after the court removed Judge Wendell Griffen from the case and reassigned any of his cases dealing with the death penalty or the state's execution protocol.

Griffen has also been referred to the Judicial Discipline and Disability Commission to evaluate whether he violated the Code of Judicial Conduct.

This ruling comes after the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals overturned Judge Kristine Baker's emergency stay which blocked the executions.
