Air Force moves hurricane hunter planes to Houston to avoid Tropical Storm Karen

HOUSTON -- People along the coast from Louisiana to Florida are getting ready for Tropical Storm Karen.

A mandatory evacuation was underway in Grand Isle, Louisiana.

Red flags were flying at all public beaches in Gulf Shores, Alabama to warn of dangerous surf conditions.

The storm is not expected to come to the Houston area so the Air Force moved its Hurricane Hunter planes from Mississippi to Ellington Airport so they could operate safely from Houston.
