HOUSTON – A 42-year-old woman died Monday after falling off the Bolivar Ferry in Galveston, according to Coast Guard officials.
The Galveston Ferry Dispatch reported the accident to watchstanders at Sector Houston Galveston at about 9:07 p.m.
The Coast Guard dispatched a small boat and helicopter to search for the woman. She was found floating in the water after about 15 minutes of searching.
She was taken to a hospital in Galveston where she died.
“On behalf of everyone involved our heartfelt condolences go out to the lady’s family and friends,” said Petty Officer 2nd Class John Schroeder, a duty watchstander at Sector Houston-Galveston.
