MCALESTER, Okla. -- Robert Charles Grunsfeld, one of Texas' 10 Most Wanted Sex Offenders, was captured Monday in Oklahoma.
Grunsfeld, 51, removed his ankle monitor on Nov. 22 and fled from a Dallas halfway house. He was arrested Monday evening and accused of felony failure to comply with civil commitment requirements.
Officials said Grunsfeld is considered a sexually violent predator and that he intentionally cut off his electronic ankle monitor and fled.
Records show Grunsfeld has convictions for aggravated sexual assault and sexual assault, plus burglary, fraud and carrying a prohibited weapon. In 2010, Grunsfeld was ordered to live at a Dallas halfway house to participate in the civil commitment program.
The Texas Department of Public Safety said that they and other agencies have arrested 31 Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitives and Sex Offenders.
